NEET (UG) 2026 Cancelled: NTA Announces Re-Examination — What Students & Parents Need to Know

In a major development affecting lakhs of medical aspirants across India, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the cancellation of the NEET (UG) 2026 examination conducted on 3 May 2026. The examination will now be re-conducted on fresh dates that will be announced separately through official NTA channels.

This decision comes after inputs reviewed by NTA in coordination with central investigative agencies regarding concerns raised around the examination process.

Why Was NEET 2026 Cancelled?

According to the official NTA circular issued on 12 May 2026, the agency stated that investigative findings and inputs received from law enforcement agencies indicated that “the present examination process could not be allowed to stand.”

To maintain transparency, fairness, and trust in India’s national examination system, the Government of India approved the cancellation and re-conduct of the exam.

The matter has also been referred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a comprehensive inquiry.
